Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted.

What we collect

  • Your account — name, email address, password (stored scrambled, never readable), username.
  • Your profile — photo, bio, skills, date of birth, country, region, city, time zone, languages, mobile number and the social links you add. Your mobile number is shown to you only, never to other members.
  • What you do here — messages, tasks, listings, groups, coins, orders and reports.
  • Technical details — the IP addresses you sign up and sign in from, and when you were last online. We use these to keep accounts safe and stop abuse.
  • Payments — what you bought, the amount and the payment reference. Card details go straight to PayPal or Razorpay; we never see or store them.

Why we use it

To run your account, show your profile and listings to other members, deliver messages, keep the coin balances right, send the emails you need (sign-in codes, receipts, alerts), and keep the site free of spam and fraud. Marketing emails go only to members who opted in, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

Who else sees it

  • Other members see your public profile, your listings and your track record.
  • Service providers who run parts of the site for us: PayPal and Razorpay (payments), Brevo (email), our hosting company, and Google Analytics only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Authorities, only where the law requires it.

We do not sell your data.

Cookies

We use the cookies the site needs to work (keeping you signed in, security), a cookie that remembers your cookie choice, and a referral cookie that lasts 30 days when you arrive through a member's link. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them, and you can change your choice from Cookie settings in the footer.

Your choices

  • Edit or hide your profile, social links and listings at any time.
  • Turn yourself off any Exchange Place board in Help Settings.
  • Delete your account from Account security. It is switched off straight away and permanently deleted 365 days later.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it.

Age

You must be at least 13 to use Help Barter.
